On Saturday, April 14, the Maine State Museum in Augusta invites visitors to join us in celebrating the adaptability of animals to survive in the wild every day. As part of the Maine State Museum Family Fun series of events, the museum will host Chewonki who will present two of their traveling natural history programs, Fur, Feathers & Feet at 11:00 a.m. and Mammals of Maine at 1:00p.m. Fur, Feathers & Feet will allow children preschool age up to fifth grade to try on costumes and see firsthand how three LIVE non-releasable animals have adaptions that help them thrive in their specific habitats. During the Mammals of Maine program visitors age eight and up will have the opportunity to study mounted and live animals in order to observe their characteristics, such as teeth, feet and fur.
