Business Person of the Year Award

The Business Person of the Year is Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce member that has been in business for at least four years. This person has demonstrated revenue growth and job creation and has been recognized for excellence in his/her industry. This person also demonstrates community leadership, imagination, and the ability to remain competitive.

Ingrid Stanchfield is the Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kennebec Valley Sandra M. Prescott Clubhouse. Ingrid began her career as a volunteer at Pray Street School in Gardiner in 1989. Since then, she has dedicated her life to a career in service to the children and families of the Kennebec Valley community. Ingrid believes that every child deserves caring adults to guide them, a safe place to grow up, their daily needs met, and fun activities to give them hope for a great future. Her success has been strongly supported by thousands of individuals who all believe in this mission and are willing to give their time, talent, and treasure to make the vision become a reality.


Large Business of the Year Award

The Large Business of the Year recipient is a Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce member that has been in business for at least four years and has ten or more employees. It has demonstrated revenue growth and job creation throughout its history in the Kennebec Valley. This business is recognized for excellence in its industry through its innovation, unparalleled customer service, staff development, and marketing practices. Its impact on the Kennebec Valley is measured through its community involvement and economic impact. 

Kennebec Savings Bank

Kennebec Savings Bank is a $1.6 billion state-charted community bank, part of a mutual organization, with a team of nearly 200 employees and offices in Augusta, Farmingdale, Freeport, Waterville, and Winthrop. Kennebec Savings Bank wants to help ensure that Central Maine and the surrounding areas are a place where all its citizens can thrive.


Small Business of the Year Award

The Small Business of the Year recipient is a Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce member that has been in business for at least four years and employs nine or fewer people. It has demonstrated revenue growth and job creation throughout its history in the Kennebec Valley. This business is recognized for excellence in its industry through its innovation, unparalleled customer service, staff development, and marketing practices. Its impact on the Kennebec Valley is measured through its community involvement and economic impact. 

Pickle's Potions

Pickles Potions Kenney Award Photo

Pickle’s Potions was founded in 2015 by Kristin Mutchler. Located in Winthrop, Maine, their products are handcrafted in-house with locally grown herbs and unrefined oils, zero synthetic fragrance, parabens or petroleum byproducts. Their products are clean and PETA certified. They offer skin consultations and custom formulations for those with extreme allergies and believe in providing personal and customized attention to each of their clients.

Nominees in this category are Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce members that have been in business for at least two years. Their impact on the Kennebec Valley is evident through their revenue growth and job creation. They are leaders in their industry and maintain a good business image in our community.

American Awards - Live Voting Winner

American Awards was opened in 1978 in Augusta. Justin Wing took over the business in 2016 and has worked extremely hard to keep a reputation of great customer service alive and well. American Awards is the oldest running trophy/awards shop in Maine. They construct their awards and products with pride, knowing that their work helps make people smile and feel appreciated.

Hershey's Ice Cream

Hershey’s Ice Cream is a wholesale ice cream distribution center for Maine and Northern New Hampshire. They have high quality, real ice cream products that are available in over 80 flavors of ice cream. Hershey’s Ice Cream Augusta branch was established in 1992 by the grit and determination of Dave Tracy. They are proud supporters of Maine’s youth through participation and involvement with the Augusta Little League and the Maine School Nutrition Association.

One River CPAs is a full-service tax, accounting, and audit firm based out of Central Maine. They offer tax preparation services for businesses, individuals, non-profits, estates, and trusts. They also provide audit and assurance services to the non-profit sector in Maine and bookkeeping and consulting services for their existing clients. Their business name, One River, is inspired by the idea that rivers and bodies of water serve as gateways to connect communities, cultures, individuals, and society as a whole. One River CPAs focuses on providing customer service that exceeds expectations and industry standards.

Community Service Award Finalists

To win in this category, you must be actively bettering the Kennebec Valley. They are recognized by their peers for their integrity and performance. Throughout their history, their track record of community leadership is evident.

Carrie Arsenault

For over five years, Carrie Arsenault has been the Capital Campaign Director of the Renovation of Johnson Hall. She is an active participant in the Augusta Kiwanis Club and Tri-Chair of the Gardiner Area Thrives Coalition through Healthy Communities of the Capital Area. She serves on the Gardiner Economic and Community Development Committee and has served on the Downtown Master Plan Committee. From a young age, Carrie has lived her life in service of others and the community. She would like to thank her band of people who work every day to make the Kennebec Valley the best that it can be.

Rebecca Pushard

Rebecca Pushard is a Morning Show co-host on True County 93.5 as part of McCoy & Co., a 5th Degree Black Belt, and a lead instructor of martial arts for the 3-6 year old students at M.I.K.A and M.I.K.A’s Awesome Summer Camp and After School Programs. She has served on the Togus VA Board of Directors, was the Blueberry Queen Ambassador for the Wild Blueberry Association of North America, has sang the national anthem at 60 different events, and has been a volunteer emcee for several events in Maine. Rebecca has always believed that you are given a special set of gifts and talents, and it is up to you to use them as best you can to help and serve others.

Chris Vallee - Live Voting Winner

Chris Vallee is a full-time real estate broker and partner at Vallee Harwood and Blouin Real Estate, partner of The Quarry Tap Room, band manager of Ellis Falls Music, and a local volunteer. He is a member of the Hallowell Board of Trade, co-founder of the Ian Parker Foundation, and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Kennebec Valley Humane Society. For Chris, it is important to be involved and give back to the community that supports him and his business ventures. He has organized several fundraisers that have helped individuals with hospital expenses, college tuitions, and other needs.

CYNERGY Professional of the Year Award Finalists

Nominees in this category are Kennebec Valley professionals. For at least the past two years, they have shown exemplary leadership throughout our region. These individuals are recognized for their long-term commitment to the betterment of the Kennebec Valley.

Heather Allen

Heather Allen is a real estate agent with Sprague & Curtis Real Estate, a recent graduate of the Kennebec Leadership Institute Class of 35, co-chair of Cynergy, and a volunteer for United Way. Heather contributes her work ethic, community involvement, and motivation for success to her mother. She strives every day to be successful enough to give back to others, especially those in her hometown. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, boyfriend, and dog Cayenne.

Michael Hall

Michael Hall is the Executive Director for Augusta Downtown Alliance. From childhood, Michael has been motivated by the idea of revitalizing a historic area. Growing up in a city where historic architecture was few and far between, he relished the idea of one day leading the charge in trying to make a difference in a historic community. As Executive Director, Michael has been living his dream every day he goes to work. Michael’s work is inspired by the community that surrounds him and he is continually proud to serve the Kennebec Valley.

Matt James - Live Voting Winner

Matt James is a co-host of “Matt & Lizzy” in the morning on 92 Moose. Matt is involved in the Maine Special Olympics Request-a-thon and the annual Camp Out Hunger Food Drive. For Matt, getting to talk on the radio and wake people up with laughs every day is one of the best parts of his job. However, what motivates Matt every day to get up and go to work is knowing that he is part of some of the most impactful community events affecting those in Central Maine.
