Mr. Herling is the Central Maine Power Company President and CEO, responsible for the leadership and management of Central Maine Power Company (CMP). CMP is Maine’s largest electricity transmission and distribution utility, serving more than 620,000 homes and businesses.

Energy Sector
Mr. Herling served as Networks Vice President – Electric Operations from 2016-2017, responsible for Electric Operations for Avangrid Networks in Connecticut, Maine, and New York. Prior to that Mr. Herling held various executive management positions at Avangrid Networks and CMP, including Vice President – Special Projects (2010 - 2016) responsible for the overall construction of the Maine Power Reliability Program, a $1.4 billion transmission and substation upgrade program in Maine and Vice President – Engineering & Asset Management (2009 - 2010) and Engineering and Vice President of CMP Field Operations (2001 - 2009). Mr. Herling joined CMP in 1985 and held positions of increasing responsibility.
Education
Douglas Herling earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Engineering from the Maine Maritime Academy and is a licensed engineer.
