Our next volunteer advocate training is coming up on Tuesday, October 26th! This is a FREE 40-hour training. You must be 18 or older and able to pass both criminal and DHHS background checks. There will be 10 hours of online classwork as well.
This is an online training via Zoom and the dates are October 26, November 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 & Dec 7.
The role of a volunteer advocate is:
- be on call for 3 shifts/month
- return calls during your shift
- accompany victims/survivors to the hospital for a forensic medical exam and law enforcement interviews (when appropriate)
- attend monthly supervision meetings
- Listen. Believe. Empower. Support.
Harvard Pilgrim Health Care teamed up with Olympic gold medalist, Joan Benoit Samuelson and Dajuan Eubanks of the Maine Red Claws to encourage Mainers to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
