An exciting and new local initiative has emerged providing a new Skills-Based, Certification Training program for various industries. In partnership with private business and industry-related organizations, the Capital Area Workforce Training Partnership was formed (CAWTP). Our mission is to partner and produce skills-based training specific to local hiring needs, in a responsive time-frame. In 2019, the group produced a CDL B training program with multiple adult student participants and hiring partners. Currently underway is the Construction101 skills training and we are recruiting student participants and hiring partners, now. Eligible students who apply will undergo a Work Prep program including communication and problem-solving skills, and more. Skills training will provide a host of skills such as OSHA10, Rigging/Signaling, Fall Protection, Blueprint reading, Constr Math, Tools training, and more. Industry business here in the Capital Area will benefit from these motivated students with program-paid Work Experience, Employees Eager to Work in the Trades, and the Skills learned through this program. Training starts in Feb2020 and completes in the Spring!
