Thomas College invites applications for the position of Instructional Designer. This position primarily engages with faculty to identify and integrate the appropriate instructional design and technologies needed to employ evidence-based instructional practices to enhance the learning process.

Duties will include:

  • facilitates and develops programs to inform faculty on trends in pedagogy, instructional technology, and methods for effective use of technology in teaching
  • researches and creates support materials for faculty regarding the instructional design, instructional technologies, and trends in higher education
  • develops multiple means of enhancing faculty professional development to enhance multiple instructional delivery formats
  • consults with faculty to help them match instructional strategies and available technologies with their student learning outcomes and objectives
  • focuses the instructional design process on enhancing student enrollments, course success, program retention, and timely graduation
  • contributes to institutional assessment efforts by analyzing Thomas student learning needs and preferences
  • enhances instructional design procedures, service infrastructure, and tools for partnering with an academic school in the design, development, and delivery of an academic program
  • supports the College’s efforts to develop and deliver online programs

This position also works with staff and students and reports to our Librarian as part of our integrated Information Services departments of Library Services and IT Services.

The successful candidate will have experience designing online or blended instruction, with a preference for experience in higher education. The position requires strong interpersonal skills, strong prioritization skills, an attention to detail and a high degree of technical aptitude. A bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design/Technology, Education, or a related field with a strong emphasis on learner-centered instruction is required. A master’s degree is preferred.

At least three years of professional experience in the field or a related area is required. Experience utilizing pedagogical best practices and instructional design, training experience, proven leadership and project management skills, and the ability to work with teams is helpful.
