Thomas College invites applications for the position of Accountant. Reporting to the Controller, the General Ledger Accountant is responsible for timely and accurate financial transactions through effective management of the general ledger system in order to generate financial statements. This position is responsible for month-end closing work including making necessary journal entries, monthly balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, etc. This position assists the Controller with budgeting, audit schedules, financial reporting, and special projects as assigned.
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or a related field with a concentration in accounting, is required. At least one year of relevant work experience or internship in accounting is preferred. The College is seeking an individual with strong analytical and problem solving skills, ability to perform complex mathematical calculations, excellent oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, ability to work with all constituencies and to work independently, computer proficiency with Microsoft office applications and various accounting software packages, and ability to multi-task. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in non-profit accounting and are proficient in use of integrated financial systems, preferably with Blackbaud’s Financial Edge.
